Motor Horsepower (HP) Rounding Appears Incorrect

Created by George Eccles, Modified on Tue, 18 Mar at 11:20 AM by George Eccles

Symptom:

  • The selector tool assigns a different HP rating than expected.
  • Example: A motor should be 15HP, but the system selects a 12.5HP motor instead.

Cause:

This is not a bug. The selector tool is working as designed:

  • New motors have been added, including a 12.5HP NEMA Motor.
  • The tool applies a 5% safety margin for Arrangement 4:
    • Example: 10.8HP × 1.05 = 11.34HP, so the system selects a 12.5HP (9.2kW equivalent) motor.

Solution:

  • If the selected motor meets the required power and safety margins, no action is needed.
  • If a 15HP motor is specifically required, manually select it in Motor Sizing Options.
