The Commercial Summary page in Fan Constructor provides a comprehensive breakdown of the components, prices, lead times, and quantities related to a specific fan selection. This page helps users finalize the commercial aspects of their fan configuration, review associated costs, and ensure that all required components are included before proceeding with the order.

Navigating the Commercial Summary Page

When a fan design is selected, the Commercial Summary page presents a detailed table with the following columns:

  • Item: The specific fan part or component.

  • Part Number: The unique identifier for the component.

  • Labour: The labor hours required for the part.

  • Qty: The quantity of the part required.

  • UoM (Unit of Measurement): The unit used for the part (e.g., each (ea), meter (m), etc.).

  • Sourced From: The supplier or manufacturer of the component.

  • Lead Time: The time required to source and deliver the part.

  • Cost (£): The unit cost of the part.

  • Gross Margin: The profit margin on the part.

  • Total Price (£): The total cost for that part, calculated as cost multiplied by quantity.

Components in the Commercial Summary Table

The commercial summary includes a variety of components, such as:

  • Fan (e.g., Centrifugal Fan 17 BFBC 4): The main fan unit.

  • Design: The specific design for the fan configuration.

  • Assembly: The assembly labor and materials involved.

  • Casing: The casing material (e.g., carbon steel) used for the fan.

  • Impeller: The impeller material (e.g., carbon steel) used in the fan.

  • Hub: The machined ferrous hub part.

  • Inlet Cone: The material and design of the fan inlet cone.

  • Pedestal: The pedestal supporting the fan, made of carbon steel.

  • Shaft Seal: The shaft seal material and type.

  • Motor: The motor used for the fan, including custom motors (e.g., Halifax Fan (Custom)).

  • Fan Surface Finish: The surface treatment or paint finish applied to the fan.

  • Packaging: Details on the packaging of the finished goods.

Understanding Prices with Special Symbols

In the Commercial Summary page, you may encounter prices marked with special symbols:

  • Minus One (-1): When you see a price marked as -1, it means that the price for that part needs to be requested from the sales gatekeeper. This is often the case for custom or special order items.

    For example:

    • Motor Halifax Fan (Custom): The price is listed as -1, which indicates that the cost needs to be obtained directly from the sales team.

  • £1, ¥1, or $1, it suggests that the price for that item is not fixed and needs to be confirmed by the sales team, typically due to custom configurations or special requirements.

How to Interpret Gross Margin and Total Price

  • Gross Margin: This is the difference between the sale price and the cost of the part. It helps the user understand the profitability of the item.

  • Total Price (£): This is calculated by multiplying the unit cost by the quantity. It provides the total price for the selected part or component.

Motor and Custom Items Pricing

If a custom motor is selected, such as Motor Halifax Fan (Custom), the price will likely appear as -1, indicating that the cost must be obtained from the sales team. Custom items often require specific configurations, and therefore, pricing is not always available immediately in the system.

For example:

  • Motor Halifax Fan (Custom) – You will need to contact the sales gatekeeper to get a precise quote for the motor.

Additional Notes

  • Lead Time: The Lead Time column reflects how long it will take to source and deliver each part. It is important to factor this into your project planning to ensure timely delivery.

  • Design and Assembly Costs: Some components, like Design and Assembly, may not have a unit cost listed, as they are included as part of the overall project. These are marked as "Included" in the summary.
